How To Care For LVT Flooring

Maintaining LVT flooring isn’t too much work. One of the biggest benefits of luxury vinyl tile is that it is easy to maintain and requires little upkeep. To keep your floors looking brand new, there are a few steps you can follow to ensure that they last for a long time.

Find out below what to do in order to keep luxury vinyl tiles in good condition.

What You Will Need

You won’t need much to care for LVT flooring. The steps that we have listed include equipment such as:

Regular Cleaning

In order to keep your LVT flooring in great shape, it’s important to maintain a regular cleaning schedule. This includes sweeping the area of dust and debris with a soft-bristled brush. This type of floor is very resistant to marks, but it’s important to use the right equipment to prolong its life.

Depending on the amount of use and traffic a room has, we recommend weekly or bi-weekly mopping to get any dirt off the floor. Use a mild cleaning solution and a gentle microfibre mop on the area to remove stains. Avoid using too much water to get the most years out of LVT flooring.

Use Doormats

To prevent dirt from being stepped into the room, we advise using doormats at exterior doors. This way, mud and other debris from shoes can be caught at the door. LVT flooring can be much easier to clean if the amount of dirt being brought in is reduced.

Avoid Dragging Furniture

Whilst LVT flooring is very durable, just like any floor, it’s important to do everything you can to maintain its appearance. We recommend avoiding dragging furniture in the area as that could risk scuffs and marks. If furniture needs to be moved, ensure it is lifted and not dragged.

Protect LVT Flooring

To further protect luxury vinyl tile, we recommend using furniture pads on the legs of tables and chairs, for example. These are used to soften the feet of the furniture and prevent any scuffing that could occur. This could particularly be useful on dining chairs that are constantly being pulled and pushed around.
